Welcome to the Georgia Health Sciences University Identity Protection Initiative project web site. We hope you will take time to carefully explore all of the links to learn as much as possible about protecting personal information for yourself and others on campus.
It started with a simple question: What is being done to protect the Social Security numbers used as personal identifiers for GHSU faculty, staff and students?
The search for an answer raised even more questions and led to the formation of a task force "to make recommendations to the President of the Georgia Health Sciences University regarding institutional use of personal information, security of university computer systems containing personal information, and possible use of an institutionally generated unique identifier for all GHSU constituents."
Phase I
was completed last September when 11 security - enhancing recommendations were
presented to the President's Cabinet. Phase II - solutions implementation
- is now underway.
