The College of Dental Medicine curriculum consists of: oral biology courses (anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, and physiology); clinical sciences (dental materials, endodontics, occlusion, oral medicine, oral pathology, oral surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, radiology, and restorative dentistry); and behavioral sciences/management courses. The curriculum consists of approximately 5,250 hours of instruction over four years.
Curriculum
The D.M.D. curriculum requires at least 11 academic
semesters over four calendar years. The curriculum initially
emphasizes the basic sciences with an expanding emphasis on the
clinical sciences. The student's knowledge and familiarity with the
basic sciences is reinforced with applied courses in each
discipline.

Clinical Training
GHSU dental students receive comprehensive clinical training
both on campus and in clinics and volunteer programs throughout the

The Student and Research
The dental student may participate in research projects
supervised by faculty in both basic science and clinical areas.
Licensure Examination
Graduates of the Georgia Health Sciences University College
of Dental Medicine are eligible for examination by all U.S. dental
licensing boards.
