Center for Health Care
Improvement

A collaborative venture
between the
Georgia Health Sciences University and BlueCross Blue Shield of Georgia
Established in the spring of 1998, the Center for Health Care Improvement
(CHI) was developed as a collaborative venture between Blue Cross/ Blue
Shield of Georgia (BCBS-GA) and the Georgia Health Sciences University (GHSU).
Our research activity has focused on a balanced program of work to
address challenges facing both academic medical centers and health
maintenance organizations. We began with six health services research
studies which covered
clinical and epidemiological issues, from interventional cardiology
practices to racial and ethnic profiling in managed care populations. All
studies have led to peer reviewed journal publications, national
presentations, and in some cases external funding.
CHI educational activity has also had a broad agenda, from addressing
managed care principles and practices for an audience ranging from medical
students and residents to GHSU faculty.
