Mission Statement:
To promote research on mechanisms of learning, memory and brain plasticity in the mammalian brain.  To foster translation of the basic research findings into understanding of clinically important problems, including stroke, epilepsy, post-traumatic stress disorder, and Alzheimer’s disease. The mission will be accomplished through interdisciplinary research in both basic and clinical Neuroscience laboratories and education in the MD/PhD and PhD programs in Neuroscience. State-of–the-art approaches from the molecular and imaging levels to electrophysiology and behavior are utilized by investigators in the center. The SCNC maintains the Human Brain laboratory along with the Department of Neurosurgery.
