Membership and Term

The BOV shall consist of sixteen members from throughout the state and nation. The inaugural class was appointed by the President of GHSU. Each board member is limited to two consecutive terms, of two years duration each. Members shall serve until their successors are appointed and qualified. In the event of a vacancy on the Board by death, resignation, removal, or any reason other than the expiration of a member's term, the President of GHSU shall fill such vacancy and the person so appointed shall serve until confirmed by the BOV and, upon confirmation, shall serve for the unexpired term.

Members of the Board of Visitors for Georgia Health Sciences University must meet the following qualifications.

• Demonstrated high-level of interest in GHSU is required.
• Ability to bring expertise through professional work experience (medical, scientific, health care, financial, accounting, legal, fundraising/ development, projects/programs) is desired.
• Ability to devote time to advance preparation for board committee meetings and ability to attend and actively participate in conference calls and board meetings is required.
• Enthusiastic advocate and voice for GHSU is desired.
